VENUE ATMOSPHERE & PARTICULATE TELEMETRY

Haze can make a show look spectacular. It also changes the environment around cameras and projection systems.

Measure the room

Optical scatter sensors estimate airborne particle concentrations by measuring scattered light. The response depends on particle size, composition and calibration. A reading alone cannot reliably identify glycol theatrical haze versus aerosolized vapor; interpreting the source requires context, ventilation data and, where necessary, more specific instrumentation.

Connect telemetry to the show

Place sensors away from direct haze-machine output and compare measurements at the stage, projector intake and control position. Record ventilation state and show cues alongside readings. Agree on thresholds with the venue and equipment owners rather than treating a generic particle number as a universal limit.

Care for optics

Follow manufacturer guidance for filtration, inspection and cleaning. Keep intake paths clear and avoid directing haze into sensitive equipment. Production, facilities and safety teams should agree on a response when readings rise or visibility changes.
