VIRTUAL GREEN ROOMS & REMOTE GUESTS

The best remote contribution path makes it easy for a guest to listen, respond and stay in sync with the room.

Build a return path first

WebRTC is a practical choice for interactive browser-based guest rooms; SRT can carry a robust contribution feed where an encoder and receiver are available. The whole round trip includes capture, processing, network transit, decoding and display. A sub-150 ms target is possible only under favorable local and network conditions, and must be measured end to end.

Give each guest a clean mix

Provide mix-minus audio so guests do not hear themselves delayed. Headphones reduce acoustic echo, while a producer-only talkback path lets the control room guide participants. Check lip sync, monitoring delay and return audio before the event.

Rehearse failure

Test on the guest’s real device and connection, provide a simple rejoin procedure and keep a backup audio route ready. Monitor packet loss and jitter during the show; adjust encoding or latency when the network cannot sustain the intended quality.
